Having successfully got upstairs (see yesterday’s post) Mango seems to have made it her mission to keep on trying to score points against me.
Whilst sitting at my desk this morning I could hear a strange noise – banging followed by a scrabbling sort of noise. I got up to investigate, only to discover Mango sitting on the footstool next to the coffee table. She had managed to open the drawer in the coffee table (the banging noise, I presume) and was poking her rather elegant nose through the contents of the drawer (the scrabbling noise). Rather disgruntled at being disturbed, I shut the drawer (loudly), shooed her off the footstool and used it to wedge the drawer shut.
Peace at last or maybe that should read, for now. I wonder what the pair of minxes will get up to next . . . . .
I am quite used to the girls ganging up on me and causing chaos. However, this weekend they took their shenanigans to a new level.
It is a house rule that doors are to be kept closed as I do not want the girls upstairs. DS, in his rush to get something from his room, left the downstairs door slightly open. If I hadn’t seen for myself what happened next, well, I just wouldn’t have believed it. . . . . .
Mango used her paw to (very quietly) open the door. It took her a few attempts as the door keep moving. Once the door was open, she stood back and allowed Poppy to go through. Within seconds they were both upstairs having a whale of a time and all I could hear was my DS laughing at their antics.
Having seen the girls sit together, I never thought they would both sit with me at the same time!
Though I am not sure that Poppy is vey comfortable with Mango sitting on her head!!
Why do cats sleep in the strangest of places? Our girls are provided with comfy beds; there’s always a lap available but Mango chooses to sleep on the shoe rack!!
Following on from the previous post – we soon found ourselves with quite few “box houses”. In true Krafted Keepsakes style, I couldn’t help myself and simply had to adapt them.
The cats love them – especially when we hide their toys or cat treats in them.
As you all know, Poppy is box mad!
This week, the girls got “box houses” – and they love them.
Here is Poppy firmly ensconced in her new home. Doesn’t she look sweet.
The boxes were free – a bit of a gimmick to get us to buy a certain brand of cat litter. We won’t be buying it again but the boxes were fun.
Poppy loves helping me when I am designing, and I must admit, I enjoy her company. Everything that I use is a source of interest to her. However, I didn’t expect her to make herself quite so comfortable on my guillotine!
Last week the girls turned two. They have been with us 15 months now and how they have changed in that time.
Yesterday, we took our lovely ladies to the vets for their annual jabs.
After the performance last year (see here) I was hoping that it would be better this time – how wrong could I be?
Poppy, like last year, proved to be a right little madam. I struggled to get her out of her box and then the battle really started.
The vet wanted to look at her teeth, listen to her heart (by which time it was racing!!), all the usual checks. As soon as the vet touched her Poppy turned into a hissing, growling, furball of sheer temper. Such was her temper, that I struggled to hold her! Her fury increased as the vet gave her a worming pill, injections and drops up her nose. Once again, my arms bear the scratches that I have come to associate with a trip to the vet.
Mango, in complete contrast, was an absolute angel, although she showed her disapproval by spitting the worming pill back at the vet.
As we were leaving the vet said to us “didn’t you know, ginger cats have a better temperament?”
Poppy has spent today sulking and might, if I’m lucky, acknowledge my presence again sometime soon.
Like all cats, my girls love the sun and like nothing more than to curl up and snooze the day away in the warmth of the sun.
What a wonderful life!
Now this might seem a strange question but it stems from strange behaviour from Mango.
Just recently, when DH or DS sneeze Mango makes a strange noise in response. We don’t know if she’s laughing at the person who sneezed; saying “bless you” in her own way (copying us, as we always say it) or trying to copy the sneeze.
Weird huh?
The girls found an earwig . . . . .
Where’s it gone??
It kept them amused for ages. They didn’t get it but looked for it the following day as well.
Give Poppy a box and she will play for hours!
Recycling cat!
Any box will do. . . .
Mango prefers DS’ school bag, dancing shoe bags . . . .
